The Cobb’s Quay Berth Holders Association, in conjunction with Powerboat Training UK encourages berth holders to get involved with our Training Program.
Boat ownership is all about freedom and having fun. The CQBHA Training Programme is designed to help you get more out of life with your boat.
The programme, run by Powerboat Training UK, encourages and supports increased berth holder activity by partnering with CQBHA to establish or enhance a programme of training, cruising and social opportunities.
“Following the success of previous years training events run by Powerboat Training UK for CQBHA & MDL Marinas as part of the RYA Active Marinas scheme (that Cobb’s Quay is a formative member of), this year’s training programme sees some new events and some old favourites.
This Years Training Plans
This year’s CQBHA/RYA Active Marina training sessions run by Powerboat Training UK have just been announced and are available for booking through Ian at the Quay Shop. Look at which sessions interest you then pop in and see Ian. If you can’t get in to see Ian then email email@example.com and Viv/Paul will get you added to the list:
Safety kit special – We’ve run this session every year and it remains very popular. Two hours looking at life jackets, the deployment of flares, the use of VHF for distress and plenty of other subjects. We don’t just talk but we use it.
Between the bridges – We take Top Hat our motor cruiser out and practice slow speed handling in the marina and between the bridges. One of the sessions will be a ‘ladies only’ session.
Navigating with electronics – session on how to make the most of the electronics you have on board. What they can do, how to enter waypoints and routes, ‘tricks of the trade’ and where to be careful.
Using a Defibrillator and CPR – We’ve all seen defibs in pubs, shopping centres and now at Cobbs Quay. No training is required but come and learn how to use it and have the knowledge that hopefully you’ll never benefit from using.
The sessions are scheduled as follows:
Saturday 29th April & Saturday May 20th:
0930 ‘Safety kit special’ – classroom
0930 ‘Between the Bridges’ (Saturday 29th April – LADIES ONLY)
1200 ‘ Navigating with electronics’
1430 ‘ Using a defibrillator & CPR’
Each session costs £5 which is donated, in full, to the RNLI.
To book see Ian in the Quay Shop who has the booking forms for each event. Any questions contact Viv/Paul at Powerboat Training UK on 01202 686666″
Don’t miss out. Places are limited and those who participated last year had a great time and learned a lot.
