The 2012 Cruising Programme

Welcome to the 2012 Cruising Section.

Below are the planned cruises for next year.  These dates are confirmed and weather permitting will take place. Every member of the Association is welcome to participate in any of the planned cruises, subject to marina availability on numbers. If you would like to experience those distant places in safety with others and get to go that bit further then please join us to get that experience so that you can go it alone. Both experienced and novice crews are welcome. If you are uncertain of your boats suitability then contact a committee or pontoon representative who will be happy to help and advise you. Every cruise that we run starts and finishes from Cobbs Quay Marina. The routes we use are all gained from the Peter Cumberlidge Waypoint Directory, one of the best boating resources you could buy for your boat at all levels for all our routes.
The booking form will go live in the New Year. Once your completed form and fee have been received a confirmation email will be sent to you. The cruise coordinator will then contact you approx 3 weeks before departure when we seek confirmation of your attendance, before receiving the actual cruising notes approx. 7 days before we leave. There is always a skippers briefing the night before departure when the current weather information and departure time will be confirmed. This meeting is a requirement for attending the cruise.

All places will be reserved on a ‘first come first served basis’ so please check the site in the New Year after you have received notification of the go live date. Then send your completed form and fee to us at the Cobbs Quay office.

The following Cruising dates and venues are planned for next year 2012.

Easter Shakedown Cruise Friday 6th – 9th April; A visit to Port Solent Marina near Portsmouth a chance to experience a lock and the many restaurants that surround the marina as well as Gunwarf Keys only a short taxi ride away.

Easter Extended Cruise 6th April – 15th April; A visit to Port Solent Marina over Easter returning initially to Ocean Village on 9th April – 12th April, before ending up at Port Hamble for the 13th-15th April this extended cruise allows use of our vouchers and the access to fuel at cost, as well as the opportunity for retail therapy for the Ladies!

Cross Channel Cherbourg Cruise 4th May – 7th May; Your opportunity to visit Cherbourg over a proper long weekend to make the 69 NM effort worth it. If you want to cross the Channel for the first or the one hundredth time, you can see for yourself why Cherbourg is so popular.

Wandering West Cruise 2nd June – 10th June; A visit West to take in some of the most picturesque boating destinations Dartmouth, Brixham and Torquay before returning to Poole. This should allow for a taste of what is on offer before returning to our own marina chain for free berthing and our discounted fuel.

Cross Channel Island Cruise 18th Aug – 26th Aug; An opportunity to explore what the islands have to offer after being glued to the Olympic’s on TV.  A cruise across the Channel down the Alderney race stopping at Diellette overnight before running down to Jersey and finally Victoria Marina in Guernsey before returning directly to Poole. This will allow you the opportunity to explore the two different islands for yourself, as well as being able to take advantage of tax free Petrol and Diesel in both locations should you need to.

All of our Cruises are at the mercy of the weather and decisions are made in good faith before departure.
